Detail:   Scientists from the University of Florida and the South Florida Water Management District will release dozens of Lixadmontia franki flies as part of a continuing study of their effectiveness at controlling an invasive, introduced species of weevil. The Mexican bromeliad weevil damages and destroys several varieties of Florida’s native bromeliads, including those found in the Everglades.
